On Sunday, April 13th, Half Pint Co. hosted an unforgettable event: Let’s Go Skate!
From noon to 4 pm, we blocked off the entire parking lot at Arbeiter Brewing Co. to create the perfect space for kids and adults to come together, skate, and celebrate the joy of movement and community. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, with clear skies and sunny warmth setting the stage for an exciting afternoon.

The vibe was electric as nostalgic 2000s pop-punk tunes filled the air, creating the perfect soundtrack for skateboarding fun. Whether you were catching air on your board, bouncing high in the bouncy castle, or simply enjoying the energetic atmosphere, there was something for everyone.

Featured Guests
A highlight of the day was Chris Nichols, a local skateboarder, artist, and author, who read from his book Kate Loves to Skate! Chris brought the story to life, inspiring kids and adults alike to embrace the freedom and fun of skating.
Queer Skaters MN also joined us, offering mini-intro to skateboarding sessions that were a hit with beginners and we heard such wonderful feedback from attendees. It was amazing to see so many people getting on their boards for the first time or showing off their skills!

A big thank you to our friend Eli, who generously donated a skateboard for one lucky attendee to win! We made it extra fun by hosting a fingerboard competition, where each contestant had 30 seconds to show off their best moves. The winner was chosen by drawing a contestant's name out of a hat, and the lucky winner was Henry, an adorable boy celebrating his 5th birthday with us. What a perfect way to celebrate!
The food vendors added even more joy to the day. Young Man served up delicious eats, Croffle Corner provided sweet and savory treats, and Minnesota Dairy Lab kept everyone fueled with refreshing ice cream treats. The combination of great food, good tunes, and an incredible community atmosphere made for an event that we will never forget.
Featured Activities
We had two exciting activities for kids that were big hits! The first was decorating their very own cardboard skateboard decks, allowing their creativity to run wild. Then, they got the chance to make their own fingerboards, which they could use on our homemade cardboard skate parks! The kids had a blast practicing tricks and showing off their mini skateboarding skills.
Fingerboard Creation
The Fingerboard Creation activity was another fan favorite! Kids learned how to design and build their own fingerboards, complete with mini trucks and wheels. Once their fingerboards were ready, they took them to our homemade cardboard skate parks to show off their skills. From performing tricks to navigating ramps and rails, it was all about having fun and pushing creative boundaries. The best part? Kids got to take their fingerboards home with them as a memento of the day’s fun!
Cardboard Skateboard Deck Decorating
One of the highlights of Let’s Go Skate! was the Cardboard Skateboard Deck Decorating activity! Kids had a blast getting creative as they personalized their very own cardboard skateboard decks. Armed with markers, stickers, and plenty of imagination, each child crafted a one-of-a-kind deck to show off. This hands-on activity not only sparked creativity but also gave kids a chance to express their love for skate culture in a fun, interactive way. It was a perfect way to bring their passion for skateboarding to life — before even stepping on the board!
